Our Mother's Day Banquet 2010

This year's Theme for our Banquet was "What's A Mother to do?" With all of our beautiful decorations depicting all the different aspects of a mother's life, starting with our Devotional table (loving our Lord), then our Romantic table (loving our husbands) our Baby table, our Boy & Girl tables (loving our children) to our tables that represent the many responsibilities we have at home such as baking, sewing, teaching, gardening and crafting (Keepers at home), as well as the great food prepared by one of our men then served to us by many of our men (even our Pastor), with 93 in attendance we would all agree that it was a great Banquet. We had good fun and fellowship with many of our family and friends attending.
But, it did not end there, we also had a great program! We opened in a hymn, then we had a special by one of our deaf ladies, the pianist sang, our interpreter then interpreted to her (our deaf lady) from the pew and then she signed the song for us. It was beautiful. We also had a funny skit which had us all laughing, then another special from our Ladies' Ensemble just before our very special guest speaker Mrs. Toni Flanders, wife of Evangelist Dr. Rick Flanders, spoke to us. She based her Devotion on our Theme "What's A Mother to do?" from Titus 2:3-5. She is a great lady and a great speaker challenging each of us in our walk with the Lord and to be better Mother's, teaching our children to walk with God as well as in the practical aspects of loving our husbands, loving our children and being keepers of our home. AMEN! It was a great challenge. We then ended by all singing "Lord, Bless Our Home."
It truly was a fun, God honoring Banquet/Program
and a great blessing to all of us.
Can't wait till next year!

Our February Proverbs 31 Ladies' Meeting

Our February meeting proved to be an inspiring time of Fellowship around God's Word with our Pastor's Wife bringing us a devotion on "The Heart" with the challenge of "What kind of a heart do we (I) have?" Do we have a Deceptive, Wicked Heart as mentioned in Jer. 17:9 or a Clean Heart as mentioned in Ps. 51:10? With many other types of hearts mentioned. She also explained how to have a Clean Heart through the cleansing power of God and ended with how we are to walk in the enabling power of the Holy Spirit as mentioned in Gal. 5:16 so we will not fulfill or live in the lust of our flesh. Each of us need to be reminded daily of the wonderful truths found in the Word of God. We are also very blessed here at TBT to have such talented women. The decorations were lovely the food was great and all enjoyed making cards. Many of our young ladies also participated which is a blessing to see how our young ladies are learning from their mothers as well as from the older ladies of our Church. Our "Proverbs 31 Ladies' Ministry" is a great testimony, in that we have all age groups represented. We have Seniors, Middle age, young married, singles and our older teenage young ladies who all participate together.
Our next Proverbs 31 Ladies Meeting will be Monday, February 1 at 7 PM here at Troy Baptist Temple. This month our focus from God's Word will be on "The Heart" given by our Pastor's Wife. We will also have a wonderful time of fellowship as well as a craft time of "Card Making" with one (among many) of our talented ladies, Cindy Anderson. She will be demonstrating heat embossing and each of us will be able to try our hand at making a Valentine Card. All are invited. Can't wait to see you here!

Our December Proverbs 31 Ladies' Meeting

We had a great "Ladies Christmas Tea" with our favorite Christmas verses being shared and many of our favorite Christmas hymns being sung as well as the food & the fellowship and especially the many different teas to keep us warm during this cold but festive time of year. Here are just a few pictures to share our "Christmas Tea" with all of you.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.- Isaiah 9:6
As December is almost upon us, we at Troy Baptist Temple like to get a head start on our Christmas celebrations. We Ladies are excited and looking forward to our next Proverbs 31 Meeting which will be December 7, at 7pm. This will be our First Annual Christmas Tea. We will be enjoying several different types of Teas as well as my favorite Victorian Tea (punch) with tea biscuits & sandwiches and other goodies. All Ladies and Young Ladies ages 16 and up are welcome to attend. But, Please come prepared to share (briefly) your favorite Christmas Bible Verse or Traditional Christmas Hymn and why or what it means to you. Our meetings are always a Blessing and center around our Love for Our Lord Jesus Christ, and our Love for each other. Please put this on your calendar and plan to attend with us for all the Fun and the Fellowship!

Our first meeting of the fall was October 19th. We had 28 in attendance. One of our dear Senior Saints gave a testimony of her recent trip to the Bill Rice Ranch for their Ladies Retreat. She had great fun and was blessed by their main speaker “Kathy Jackson” from Saginaw, MI. as well as their many workshops. She then encouraged the rest of us to join with her next year. Amen!

Our Devotional was then given by our PW Diane Mulvaine which helped us to see Missions in a practical sense from a missionary’s point of view having been a missionary for many years herself. She challenged us to know our missionaries better so we can pray more intelligently for them with the emphasis on praying more for our missionary wives and children. We then put together gift bags to be given to them during our Missionary Conference at the end of the month. What a blessing to fellowship around the Word of God and have a time of prayer and refreshment. Please plan to join us at our next meeting which will be December 7th at 7pm.
